SERVUS founders Robert and Lovella Ruckriegel were presented the key by Jasper Mayor Terry Seitz Thursday on the grounds of the Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.

Bob and Lovella were instrumental in the establishment of the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Jasper. In 1967, Bob served as the President of the campaign committee in a successful effort to raise $100,000 for a 72-bed nursing facility and served on the Board of Directors through 2016.

They were both recently named the Northwood Retirement Community Volunteers of the Year.

Bob and Lovella established the company now known as SERVUS in 1964 and remain actively involved in the business to this day.

SERVUS! currently operates 148 Long John Silver’s, Denny’s, Grandy’s, and Wendy’s restaurants, a McAlister’s Deli in Bedford, and the Jasper 8 Cinema, along with numerous real estate holdings.

The Ruckreigel’s were joined by their sons Al and Sid, several members of their office staff as well as the staff at Good Samaritan for the event.
