Police in Jasper while looking for a man wanted on a warrant Wednesday afternoon ended up making a pair of arrest on numerous drug charges after authorities discovered marijuana and various items used in the cultivation of the drug.

Officers with the Jasper Police Department with the assistance of deputies with the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department went to an apartment located along the 600 block of West 36th Street on Jasper’s north side looking for a subject wanted on a warrant.

When they arrived police found 28-year old Eric Jackson and 47-year old Carl Parks who resided at the apartment.

Police say while speaking with the two in the apartment they noticed a very strong odor of both burnt and raw marijuana.

Authorities applied for and were granted a search warrant through the Dubois County Circuit Court.

The warrant was served at just before 2:30 pm and upon executing the search warrant officers located marijuana,
paraphernalia, a large marijuana plant, and items used in the cultivation of marijuana.

Police say Parks claimed all of the marijuana, paraphernalia, plants, and growing materials were his.

While checking the status of the occupants of the home both Parks and Jackson were discovered to have outstanding warrants through Dubois County.

Parks had 2 warrants for Petition to Revoke for Inhaling Toxic Vapors while Jackson had a warrant for Failing to Appear on a charge of Operating While Intoxicated.

The warrants were served on both men as well, and both were lodged in the Dubois County Security Center.
Parks was charged with Maintaining a Common Nuisance, Possession of Marijuana, possession of Paraphernalia and Wanted on Warrant

Jackson was placed into custody on the warrant.
