A Martin County man was placed under arrest after he allegedly attempted to steal scrap metal from a Jasper business Wednesday morning.

Jasper Police say at around a quarter after 10 am yesterday, employees with Forest Products Inc. located on Jasper’s Northside observed a male subject removing scrap iron from the property.

Police say employees confronted the subject identified as 44-year old Charles Kline of Loogootee and contacted authorities.

Kline admitted to police that he stole iron from the same location on two previous occasions.

Police say Kline had sold the stolen iron at a local scrap yard and had received $122.50.

Kline was taken into custody and booked into the Dubois County Security Center on theft charges.
