Emerson R. Sander, age 92, of Birdseye, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

He was born June 13, 1925, in Cleveland, Ohio to Richard F. and Mabel (Fisher) Sander.  Emerson was a butcher and laundromat owner; and enjoyed making antique-style brooms.  He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps having served from 1943-1945.

Emerson is survived by his wife, Trudy M. Sander of Birdseye; four children, Susan Sander of Texas, Linda Zoiss of Wisconsin, David Sander of Illinois and Kathy McCoy of Illinois; three step-children, Cathy Goosie of Florida, Melinda Conrad of Wisconsin and Fred Knoth of Illinois; one sister, Vera Sander of Illinois; eleven grandchildren, Christopher, Kaitlyn, Seth, Sarah, Michael, Alyssa, Fred, Dawn, Elliot, Lisa and Amenda; and eight great grandchildren, Nora, Aiden, Lucas, Evan, Audrey, Molly, Clara and Colette.

The Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg has been entrusted with the direct cremation arrangements.  There will be no visitation or memorial services held at the funeral home.  Condolences may be shared with the family online at:  www.nassandson.com
