Richard E. Feldmeyer, age 89, of Huntingburg, formerly of Fishers, Indiana, passed away at 12:55 a.m., on Friday, October 6, 2017, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper.

He was born March 16, 1928, in Huntingburg, Indiana to Oscar and Amelia (Sunderman) Feldmeyer. He graduated from Huntingburg High School in 1946; served in the United States Navy during World War II; and graduated from Purdue University in 1952 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. Richard worked for P.R. Mallory and Indiana Gear Works (Buehler Corporation) for 43 years in research and development of aerospace and nuclear reactor components. He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Huntingburg; and married Joanne Giltner on August 8, 1996. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne Feldmeyer, who died April 24, 2002; one sister and brother-in-law, Geneva (Chester) Fark; and one great nephew.

Richard is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Don (Anna Mary) Feldmeyer of Huntingburg, Ind.; three step-children, Paula Jarvis of McCordsville, Ind., Joe Nahler of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee and Jim Nahler of Marion, Ind.; and by nieces, nephews, and step-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Richard E. Feldmeyer will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Huntingburg. Pastor Mark West will officiate at the service. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the V.F.W. Post #2366 Memorial Detail.
