Congratulations goes out to the Dubois County Humane Society!!!

The humane society was voted by the public as the recipient of a $10,000 grant courtesy of the Dubois County Community Foundation and a culmination of 12 Days of Giving, a granting blitz that kicked off on December 1 and concluded yesterday with the public taking part in the voting process on the Community
Foundation’s Facebook page.

Dubois County Humane Society President Andrea Hedinger Gramelspacher says the Humane Society was able to adopt over 600 animals this year which is a record for the
organization and subsequently increased their vet costs.

She says the grant will offset all of their vet care needs which must be raised 100% on a local level.

Leading up to the $10,000 grant, 12 organizations received a $1,000 grant. These organizations were then eligible for a public vote that took place on Facebook yesterday.
Over 1,725 votes were received on the Community Foundation’s Facebook page. The organization with the most votes was Dubois County Humane Society, with 892 votes.
The 12 nonprofits who received $1,000 grants were:

 Camp CARE

 Celestine Community Club

 Community CHEW

 Dubois County CASA

 Dubois County Humane Society

 Girls on the Run

 Memorial Hospital HOPE Garden

 Southern Indiana Leathernecks Detachment

 Southern Indiana Education Center

 St. Patrick’s Celebration

 St. Vincent DePaul

 Survivors of Suicide

A total of $22,000 was granted to local charities through the 12 Days of Giving initiative.

This year’s 12 grant recipients were chosen by last year’s grant recipients with the goal of “paying it forward”.

Community Foundation Executive Director Clayton Boyles says the 12 Days of Giving initiative brings recognition to the good work nonprofits do in the community. “

He added that the initiative, through some friendly competition in the community, showcases the impactful work of these
organizations and provides them with grant dollars to further those missions.
