Dolores M. Leinenbach, age 96 of Ireland, Indiana, passed away at 3:35 a.m. on Sunday, December 31, 2017 at Loogootee Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Loogootee, Indiana.

Dolores was born in Jasper, Indiana on April 25, 1921 to Valentine and Suzanna (Keller) Vonderschmitt. She married Eugene Leinenbach on May 1, 1943. He preceded her in death on August 20, 1982.

She was a homemaker, helped on the farm, worked in numerous homes in the Jasper area, and worked for Leed’s Selling Tools in Ireland.

Dolores was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana and their St. Anne’s Sodality and the Christian Mother’s Society.

She was an avid gardener, quilted numerous quilts for the church, and was a marvelous cook, making her own doughnuts and angel food cake from scratch.

Surviving is one daughter, Sue Mathies (Gary), Loogootee, IN, four sons, Allen Leinenbach (Judy), Mishawaka, IN, Steve Leinenbach (Kathy), Windsor, CO, Mark Leinenbach, and Dan Leinenbach (Diane) both of Ireland, IN, fourteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death beside her husband was one son, John Leinenbach who died in infancy, one daughter-in-law Joyce Leinenbach, and she was the last surviving member of her family with three sisters, Adel Hopf, Alberta Pfaff, Genevieve Schmidt, and six brothers, Louis, Gene, Arnold, Ralph, Rudy, and Bernard Vonderschmitt preceding her in death.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Dolores M. Leinenbach will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, IN. The St. Mary’s St. Anne’s Society will pray the rosary at 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
