Viginia M. Mehringer, age 89, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away surrounded by family at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 15, 2026, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper, Indiana.

Virginia was born in Jasper, Indiana, on December 28, 1936, to Andrew and Olevia (Durcholz) Weidenbenner. She married Alvin R. Mehringer on May 15, 1956, and he preceded her in death January 26, 2003.

She was a graduate of Ireland High School.

She was a homemaker and then retired from Decora, where she had worked for almost 40 years.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, and the St. Ann’s Society.

Virginia was a great cook and enjoyed flowers, quilting, embroidery, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.

Surviving are two daughters, Marla (Phil) Becher, Jasper, IN, Sharon (Mark) Sermersheim, Ireland, IN, three sons, Alvin Jr. (Mary) Mehringer, Jasper, IN, Donn (Melody) Mehringer, Francisco, IN, Phil (Amy) Mehringer, Jasper, IN, 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, with one on the way, two sisters, Marilyn Eckerle, Greenwood, IN, and Frances (Jim) Waddell, Indianapolis, IN, one brother, Bernard Weidenbenner, Jasper, IN, and one sister-in-law, Helena Weidenbenner, Jasper, IN.

Preceding her in death besides her husband is one daughter, Cynthia M. “Cindy” Kiefer, one granddaughter, Kelsey M. Mehringer, three brothers, John, Morris, and Jerome Weidenbenner, and one brother-in-law, Maurice Eckerle.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Virginia M. Mehringer will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Tuesday.
