Jasper Police were kept busy with a pair of shoplifting incidents at the Jasper Walmart store that lead to arrests Wednesday afternoon.
ARREST #1
First a Jasper woman was placed under arrest on a pair of charges including theft after she allegedly made an attempt to walk out of the north side super-center with some items without paying for them.
Just before 4 p.m. yesterday Jasper Police were called to the store where they say 30-year old Lindsay Weaver attempted to leave the store without paying for several clothing items valued at $9.50.
Police say while waiting for Wal-Mart staff to finish paperwork Weaver became agitated and refused several orders from an arresting officer. She was taken into custody after a slight physical altercation.
Weaver was taken to and booked into the Dubois County Security Center where she was charged with Theft & Resisting Law Enforcement
ARREST # 2
Then around 6 o’clock Wednesday evening Jasper Police were called back to the same location for a report of two adults that had taken products from the store, exited, and left the parking lot.
Police say two identified as 54-year old Mark Baker and 44-year old Stephanie Norman both of Springville, were found standing near their vehicle, parked north of the Sun Tan City.
Police say they located items that were taken from Walmart in their possession and in their vehicle.
Police say the two admitted to stealing the items from the store in order to pay for their electric bill.
They also told police they has come to town to panhandle, which they say is not allowed in Springville.

The total amount of items taken were $266.23 by Baker and $59.28 by Norman. Both were arrested on Class A Misdemeanor charges of Theft, and were taken to and booked into the Dubois County Security Center.
