A Elizabethtown, Kentucky woman is behind bars after reports came into to police from a local auto parts store about suspicious returns leading to a traffic stop and the discovery of a stolen U-Haul out of Louisiville.

On Wednesday Jasper Police received a complaint from the district manager of Auto Zone about some suspicious returns of auto parts that were taking place at stores in the area. The manager made a second phone call and advised police that a U-Haul and the occupants matching the descriptions of the subjects making the suspicious returns was at the Jasper store, located along Indiana Street.

When police arrived they observed the U-Haul leaving the scene at a high rate of speed and conducted a traffic stop. Police report the U-Haul was exceeding the posted speed limit on 2nd Street.

During the stop police identified the driver as 23-year-old Caitlyn Hardesty of Elizabethtown, KY and learned that the vehicle, a 2008 Ford E450 U-Haul, was reported stolen out of Louisiville, KY.

The occupants of the vehicle were secured and the vehicle was confirmed to be reported stolen.

Hardesty, was then placed under arrest for Auto Theft and later lodged in the Dubois County Security Center on that charge.
