A change in the flow of traffic will soon be coming to Main Street in between 7th and 9th streets in Jasper. The Jasper City Council introduced and passed an ordinance Wednesday night that will change Main Street between 7th and 9th streets from a one-way to a two-way street.

Currently Main Street between 7th and 9th is a one-way street going north, but due to drivers ignoring street signage and exiting onto main the wrong way, leading the Traffic Safety Committee to review and resolve the situation.

The council passed a second ordinance as well to change the intersection at 9th and Main to a three-way stop intersection, which will require painted lines and a stop sign. The effective dates of both ordinances are tied to when the street department will make certain adjustments with parking and signage.
