A Tuesday evening accident in Huntingburg left a utility pole broken, a Chevy truck totaled and a man arrested.

Just before 10 p.m. last night in Huntingburg City Police responded to an accident that occurred along North Van Buren Street.

A 2005 Chevrolet pick-up truck driven by 25 year-old Drake Neal of Huntingburg was traveling north bound along the 700 block of North Van Buren when the truck left the roadway and struck a utility pole, breaking the pole. Neal’s truck then turned into an alleyway and sideswiped a secondary pole advancing through the alley striking an air conditioning unit. The truck continued east bound in the alleyway before coming to a rest in a ditch.

Neal was arrested and is facing multiple charges including: Operating While Intoxicated; Operating While Intoxicated – Endangerment; Leaving the Scene of a Crash – Property Damage Crash; Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated-Controlled Substance, Criminal Recklessness and Reckless Driving.

Huntingburg police reported that the truck was totaled by the accident.

Neal was taken to and lodged into the Dubois County Security Center.

Huntingburg Police were assisted at the scene by the Indiana State Police, Huntingburg Fire Department, Memorial EMS, Huntingburg Utilities and KARS towing.
