A former Jasper High School standout athlete is returning to his Alma mater to head up the school’s athletic program.

Monday night the Greater Jasper Consolidated School Board approved the hiring of JHS alumni Brian Lewis as the school’s new athletic director.

The 34-year-old Lewis graduated from Jasper High School in 2002 where he played basketball and in football as a running back, helped lead for the Wildcat’s to the program’s only State Championship in 2001.

After graduating from Indiana State University in Terre Haute in 2006, Lewis coached high school football for 7 seasons with stops in North Vermillion, Columbia City and Evansville Harrison High Schools. He has spent the last 5 years as athletic director at Monrovia.

Lewis says he’s excited and grateful for the opportunity and is looking forward to returning to Jasper…

Brian is the son of former Jasper High School Athletic Director Denny Lewis who served as AD for 17 years before retiring in 2011. He will replace Andy Noblitt who decided to step down from the position back in December after 7 years on the job effective at the end of the spring sports season.

Like Brian Lewis, Noblitt too was a second generation JHS Athletic Director. His late father Don Noblitt served as athletic director in the 1970’s.

Lewis says he’s ready to get reacquainted with the community, the school and it’s athletic staff…

Lewis and his wife Brooke have a 3 year old daughter with another child due in September. He will begin his new position on July 1st.
