Janice C. Oser, age 87, of Huntingburg, passed away at 2:30 p.m., on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at her home.
She was born September 5, 1930, in Huntingburg, Indiana to Marion and Lillian (McMillen) Dearing; and was united in marriage to Alfred H. “Jim” Oser on January 31, 1948, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg.
Janice was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers, St. Mary’s Ladies Sodality, and the Red Hat Society. She was a former chairperson of Bingo at The Waters of Huntingburg and a volunteer for the Humane Society. She enjoyed spending time reading her romance novels and watching westerns on television curled up on the couch with her cat, Sophie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred H. “Jim” Oser, who passed away on February 10, 2000; one son, Daryl L. Oser; three brothers, Jack Dearing, Jerome Dearing and Bud Dearing; and four sisters, Jean Ingle, Fern Tanner, Dede Tanner and Nancy Meyer.
Janice is survived by her son, David Oser of Pensacola, Florida; two daughters, Darlinda Hurst of Jasper and Debra (Greg) Lanman of Huntingburg; one sister, Joanne Blocker of Huntingburg; by (5) grandchildren and (4) great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Janice Oser will be held at 10:00 a.m., E.D.T., on Friday, May 25, 2018, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. The funeral Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Fr. Ryan Hilderbrand.
Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00-8:00 p.m., on Thursday, May 24th. A parish rosary prayer vigil will be held at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Dubois County Humane Society.
