Iris A. Gutgsell, age 76, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2018, at home.

Iris was born in Jasper, Indiana, on September 1, 1941, to Linus and Aurelia (Seng) Klee.

She was a 1959 graduate of Jasper High School and a graduate of Lockyear’s Business College in Evansville, Indiana.

Iris worked as a bookkeeper at a local radio station, and as a mayoral secretary and served 16 years as Jasper Clerk-Treasurer until retirement on December 31, 1995.  She then worked 13 years at the Jasper Municipal Golf Course pro-shop

She had been an active member of the Indiana League of Clerk-Treasurers, serving as a district director for many years, and was the recipient of the Key to the City of Jasper for her years of public service.

She was a member of the Retired Indiana Public Employers Association and of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper.

She enjoyed golfing, ladies league bowling, flower gardening, reading and Indiana University Basketball.

Surviving are one son, Kurt Gutgsell, Jasper, IN, one daughter, Elaine (Dean) Bromm, Huntingburg, IN, one sister, Melva (Bob) Byrd, Lebanon, IN, three grandchildren, Nathan, Ali, and Carson Bromm, and one sister-in-law, Mary Klee, Holland, IN.

Preceding her in death is one brother Roger “Tubber” Klee.

Funeral services Iris A. Gutgsell will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 4, 2018, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, with entombment to follow in Fairview Cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 1:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 3, 2018, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House of Indianapolis, Mitchell Lange Special Needs Endowment in care of the Dubois County Community Foundation or to a favorite charity.
