Three county officials have opted to not run for re-election come November.

Huntingburg Councilman Kerry Blessinger has decided not to run for a second term. He has said that his business has picked up over the past few years. This has caused him to not run for re-election. Independent Amber Wahl and Republican Jose Alfredo Dubon are running for Blessinger’s District 4 seat.

Jasper Councilman John Bell has stated that he will not be running for a second term. Bell says he wants to put a focus on other things and move things into a different direction. Republican Chad Lueken and Democrat Daniel Kreilein will be running for Bell’s District 3 seat on the council.

Jasper Clerk-Treasurer Juanita Boehm is deciding to retire from her position this year.

Boehm says that she knows it’s time to retire. Boehm, a Democrat, has been Jasper’s clerk-treasurer since 1996. Democrat Allen Seifert will take Boehm’s position come election time as he is running unopposed.
