Superintendent of Northeast Dubois County School Corporation William G. Hochgesang has been named 2020 Superintendent of the Year for District VII.

Hochgesang was chosen by the Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents.

Other superintendents in their district select a winner based on the qualifications and accomplishments of their area colleagues.

Hochgesang has been the superintendent of Northeast Dubois County School Corporation since 2012. He also served as the principle of Dubois Middle School from 2001 to 2012.

After becoming superintendent, he created a meeting for all Dubois County School superintendents, high school principals, and high school guidance counselors. In meetings, they talked about ways they could work together to share resources and staffing.

The group also created its largest program, Hub 19.

Hub 19 is a way for the school and the local industry to work together in improving student education.

The Regional Opportunity Initiative gave Hub 19 a $1 million grant to help fund their first 4 years.

This helped them launch a new robotics and automation vocational program this fall at Vincennes University.

Students in the program can earn stackable credits that lead to an associate’s degree while they’re still in high school.
