A traffic stop led to the arrest of an Orleans man in Martin County on Wednesday.

A Martin County Sheriff Corporal was patrolling in Shoals around 1:19 am when he noticed a vehicle with a registration and equipment violation.

The driver was later identified as 53-year-old James G. Montesano

A K-9 was called to the scene to conduct an open-air sniff and indicated narcotics were present.

When searching the vehicle, police found a little less than one gram of methamphetamine.

Montesano was booked into the Martin County Security Center and charged with possession of methamphetamine.
