A Santa Claus woman miraculously escaped unscathed after her house burst into flames on Tuesday evening.

Joyce Selvidge says she was relaxing at her home on Ashburn Road when her Australian Shepard started barking in the direction of the kitchen and garage entryway. She says her dog normally doesn’t bark so she knew something was wrong. When she opened the door to the garage, fire burst into the house.

By the time firefighters arrived at the residence, the house was engulfed in flames.

Selvidge says that she was lucky to make it out alive and she thanks her dog for making her aware of what could have been a fatal situation.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Very little information is being released at this time.

We will keep you updated as more information becomes available.
