Northeast Dubois is officially set for changes to come in 2020.

It was approved at the monthly Northeast Dubois School Board Meeting Tuesday night that Dubois Elementary School, Northeast Dubois Middle School, and Northeast Dubois High School will all get name changes to come the next school year. Dubois Elementary School will be known as Northeast Dubois Elementary School, Northeast Dubois Middle School will be known as Northeast Dubois Intermediate School, and Northeast Dubois High School will be known as Northeast Dubois Junior/Senior High School.

Northeast Dubois Superintendent William Hochesang says that the name changes have met positive feedback.

These name changes will take effect on July 1st, 2020.

The Dubois County School Calendar was approved at Tuesday night’s meeting as well. All Dubois County Schools are on the same schedule for the school year, which Hochesang says has met great success.

Northeast Dubois also recognized a Northeast Dubois Graduate and Rose Hulman student, Kaylin Harrison, for being awarded the Realizing the Dream scholarship. The scholarship is earned by being a first-generation college student. Kaylin, as part of the award, was asked to recognize an influential or impactful teacher and she chose to recognize Mrs. Andea Rickelman. Mrs. Rickelman also received a monetary award to use at her discretion from the Realizing the Dream scholarship program.

Other approvals from Tuesday night’s meeting can be found on our Television partner’s website, WJTS.tv.
