This 25th annual award is given to an individual or group who has contributed generously of their time, talents, or resources in maintaining, improving, or building upon the German roots of Dubois County.

Sandy Wehr has been a member of the Jasper Deutcherverin and Sister Cities of Jasper for many years. She was the President of Sister Cities from 2013 to 2018 and currently serves as the Vice-President and Student Exchange Chairperson for the county high schools.

Since 2007, she has assisted with the exchange of students to, and from, the continent of Europe, and so on, which typically takes place between the residents of Jasper, Indiana, and Pfaffenweiler, Germany.

Mrs. Wehr has been ever-so accommodating when students and teachers come from Germany to visit Jasper, as she arranges for housing, plans activities, and transportation for those visiting. Sandy Wehr is an integral part of the German Heritage bond that Jasper, Indiana shares with Pfaffenweiler, Germany.

Congrats to Sandy on receiving this year’s award!
