The public and the local community are cordially invited to attend and participate in the Annual American Flag Disposal Ceremony for Dubois County. The ceremony, organized by the Dubois County Veterans Council (DCVC), will take place on Friday, June 14th (FLAG DAY) at the Dubois County 4-H Fairgrounds, beginning promptly at 7:00 PM/1900 Hours.

The ceremony will feature the playing of patriotic songs (recorded), the National Anthem, and the reciting of the “Pledge of Allegiance,” highlighting the dignified and somber nature of the event. David Flynn, the current Commandant of The Marine Corps League and Jr Vice Commander of VFW Post 673, along with Brian Wigand, the President of the DCVC, will preside over the ceremony.

The public is encouraged to bring their unserviceable and worn/torn flags to the ceremony, or they can drop them off at their local Veterans Organization located throughout the county. Due to the number of flags involved in this annual event, the actual burning/disposal will continue after the solemn ceremony. We hope to see many of you there as we publicly honor one of our greatest American symbols.
