Mary R. Oeding, age 92, of Ireland, Indiana, passed away surrounded by family at 12:59 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, Indiana.

Mary was born in Ireland, Indiana, on July 11, 1932, to Henry Jr. and Eleanora (Hulsman) Buschkoetter.  She married Bernard Snyder on October 10, 1952, and he preceded her in death on March 27, 1955.  She later married Roman Oeding on May 30, 1963, and he preceded her in death on November 14, 1993.

She was a 1950 graduate of Ireland High School.

She was a homemaker and babysat for many years.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana, where she was involved with making many quilts for the church picnic.  She was also a member of the St. Anne’s Society.

Mary enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and quilting.  She also loved visiting and playing games with her grandkids and great grandkids.

She is survived by one daughter, Donna (William) Hoffman, Huntingburg, IN, three sons, Larry (Shellie) Oeding, Jasper, IN, Gary (Susan) Oeding, Jasper, IN, and Mike (Cheryl) Snyder, Jasper, IN, nine grandchildren, one step grandchild, 14 great grandchildren, one step great grandchild.

Also preceding her in death are one son Steve Snyder, and three brothers, Wilfred, Jerome, and Linus Buschkoetter.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary R. Oeding will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 2, 2024, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Mass time at the church on Friday.
