City of Huntingburg offices will be closed on Thursday, June 19, in recognition of Juneteenth, the federal holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States.

Juneteenth, officially recognized as a federal holiday in 2021, marks the day in 1865 when Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to enforce the Emancipation Proclamation and free the last enslaved African Americans—more than two years after the proclamation was issued.

Normal business hours for City offices will resume on Friday, June 20. Residents are encouraged to plan accordingly for any city services or inquiries during this time.
