The Indiana State Police has announced the promotion of Detective Josh Greer to the rank of Sergeant. In his new role, Sergeant Greer will serve as the Jasper District Investigative Squad Leader.

Greer has been with the Indiana State Police for more than 19 years, beginning his career as a dispatcher at the former Terre Haute Post before becoming a road trooper for the Evansville District. Since 2017, he has served as a detective at the Jasper Post, where his work has focused on homicide, cybercrime, financial crimes, crimes against children, and missing person investigations.

A native of Boonville, Greer graduated from Boonville High School in 2004 and earned a bachelor’s degree in criminology from Indiana State University. He went on to graduate from the 68th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy in 2007 and was assigned to the Evansville District, where he primarily patrolled Warrick County.

During his career, Greer has also served as a Field Training Officer, a member of the ISP Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team, and a Crash Reconstructionist, including time as team leader.

Sergeant Greer and his wife, Jenny, live in Warrick County with their children.
