The Greater Jasper Consolidated School District is highlighting alumni, students, and staff through its ongoing “Portrait of a Wildcat” series, and this week’s feature is Jasper Mayor Dean Vonderheide.

Vonderheide, a GJCS graduate, has built his career on lessons learned during his time as a student. He points to the guidance of teachers, coaches, and administrators who encouraged him to set goals and pursue opportunities with persistence. Those experiences, he says, provided the foundation for his success.

In his feature, Vonderheide shared advice for current students, emphasizing the importance of taking chances, developing strong relationships, and investing in personal growth. He noted that the support and opportunities provided by GJCS continue to have a lasting impact on his life.

The “Portrait of a Wildcat” initiative will continue to showcase members of the school community whose paths reflect the values of the district.
