James “Jim” Mehling, 76 of St. Meinrad, passed away on Friday, November 7th at his home. 

Jim was born April 5, 1949 in St. Meinrad to Hubert and Alice (Maffenbeier) Mehling. Jim served in the United States Marines from 1968-1970. Jim was very patriotic and proud of his service to his country. 

He enjoyed deer hunting and being with friends and family. 

Jim is survived by three sisters, Thelma Ann Hunt of Gainesville, GA., Margie (Mike) Steckler of Huntingburg, Ruth (Ray) Fritz of Ferdinand; one brother, Terry (Donna) Auffart of St. Meinrad. 

Jim was preceded in death by both his parents; three brothers, Norman, Bernard and Stanley “Butter” Mehling. 

Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 12th at 10:00 AM CST in ST. Meinrad Catholic Church.

Burial will follow at a later date. 

St. Meinrad Legion Post 366 will provide military honors. 

Friends may call on Tuesday, November 11th from 3-7:00 PM CST at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand, and also on Wednesday morning from 9:00 AM CST until time of services at St. Meinrad Church. Online condolences may be shared at www.becherfueneralhome.com
