Phyllis A. Merter, age 78, of Otwell, Indiana, entered into eternal rest at 9:25 p.m. on Monday, February 2, 2026, at Amber Manor in Petersburg, Indiana.

Phyllis was born in West Baden, Indiana, on September 28, 1947, to Otto and Norma (Carter) Radke. She married Ronnie J. Merter on May 29, 1965, at Our Lady of the Springs Catholic Church in French, Lick, Indiana, enjoying 57 wonderful years together. He preceded her in death on June 28, 2022.

She was a 1965 graduate of Springs Valley High School, going on to work as a maintenance associate at Wal-Mart for nearly 20 years.

Phyllis enjoyed reading, Sudoku puzzles and puzzle books, thrifting, and spending time with her grandbabies.

Surviving is one daughter; Regina Brittain, one son; Ronnie Merter, both of Otwell, IN, four grandchildren; Rustin Furman, Hannah Brittain, Miranda Barker, Caroline Loveland, six great-grandchildren; Creed, Eastlynne, Amilya, Jed, Ava, and Xander, brother-in-law, Mike Lindauer and his wife Linda, two nieces; Margo Porter and Mary Osgatharp, two nephews; Bill and Matt Merter.

Preceding her in death besides her husband are her parents, one brother, Phil “Bubby” Radke, and one niece, Cassie Radke.

A celebration of life service for Phyllis A. Merter will be held at a later date.
