Spencer County Purdue Extension hosted a food summit Wednesday at the Spencer County Youth and Community Center in Chrisney.

This summit was an opportunity for local food growers to come and share thoughts and learn about local initiatives and success while listening to others involved in the food system, as well as discussing specific topics with fellow community members.

Local food coordinator for Purdue extension Jodee Ellett says the summit is a way for people in the community to come and learn more about the food system

During Wednesday’s summit a panel discussion moderated by Bill Potter of DC Broadcasting, as included a number of different discussions, as well as a brunch and a talk by Suzzanne Cecil White of Cecil Farm Produce in Kentucky who spoke of her life experiences as a farmer.
