With events and a day designed to encourage public participation and aiming to continue to build excitement about the city’s community development projects, the Jasper LEADs committee (Library, Enrichment, Arts, Downtown) will hold a “GIVE WHERE YOU LIVE!” campaign on Friday, May 19, 2017. The day will be filled with events and activities in hopes of engaging and finding an area of interest for everyone in the community and, ultimately, will culminate in the “Very Big Show (of Support)” variety show/fundraiser that evening at the Jasper Arts Center. All Proceeds benefit Jasper LEADs, including the new cultural center and renovation of the Astra Theatre. They hope to raise a minimum of $50,000 that day.
“Through ‘Give Where You Live!’ we hope to engage the public to support the outstanding things that are happening in our downtown,” said Linda Kahle, Jasper LEADs board member. “We hope this campaign helps build excitement for the Jasper Cultural Center as we get closer to breaking ground and are looking very much forward to this fun day that will give everyone a chance to show their support in many different ways.”
The community-wide “GIVE WHERE YOU LIVE!” day will feature activities such as a morning workout, morning coffee discussion, a kids’ craft opportunity, downtown shopping specials, a happy hour cocktail opportunity, and the 7 p.m. variety show at the Jasper Arts center. Additional event information will be released as details are finalized. To purchase a $10 ticket for the “Very Big Show (of Support)” variety show (music, dance, magic, and more!), please visit www.jasperarts.org or get them directly here www.itickets.com/events/378666.html.
To make a donation in advance of the day, please visit www.gofundme.com/givewhereyoulive. Donations over $1,000 will result in a book placed on the donor wall in the new Cultural Center in the donors honor.
All proceeds from the day’s events, including the variety show, will benefit the LEADs campaign in support of the Cultural Center construction, the renovation and preservation efforts at the historic Astra Theatre, and the renovation of the Jasper Arts Center.
