Looking for something to keep the insanity at bay after the long winter months? Look no further than a refreshing hike through a Hoosier state treasure, the Ferdinand State Forest.

DC Multisport is hosting the chance to stretch your legs and relieve stress with the family friendly Cabin Fever Hike which will take place next Saturday, February 17th at the Ferdinand State Forest.

Participants can hike either the 2.5 or 5.5-mile guided trails. Entry is free; however, participants are asked to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Dubois County Food Bank.

Participants should register no later than 8:30 am ET. Registration is located at the shelter house located past the dam and property office – near the youth camping area. The hike will begin at 9:00 am.

This family-friendly event features a campfire, hot chocolate, and coffee. Adventures Recreation & Gear will give away a hiker’s bundle featuring a $25 store gift certificate, a North Face jacket, and a pair of Keen hiking shoes.

A real Indiana natural treasure the Ferdinand State forest was established in 1934 a year after a local conservation club raised funds to buy 900 acres to build a lake and provide an area to hunt and fish. They offered management of the project to the Indiana Department of Conservation the following year, marking the establishment of Ferdinand State Forest.

In 1934 as a Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) camp, workers built roads, service buildings, and one of the most beautiful forest lakes in the state.

Ferdinand State Forest is well known for its excellent deer and squirrel hunting along with its natural beauty and hiking trails.

DC Multisport, who is sponsoring the family friendly cabin fever hike is an organization dedicated to building a vibrant, well-connected fitness community in Dubois County. DC Multisport is a welcoming, camaraderie-filled organization that fosters group training, race, education, and recreation opportunities among its members, while giving back to the local communities.

They remind you that you need not to be a competitive athlete to belong and participate; all faces and paces are welcome.
