Dubois County Council member Martha Wehr is seeking to retain her seat on the council.
Wehr has served on the seven-member council for the last seven years and served as the Dubois County auditor from 2000 to í07.
During that time she was president of the Indiana County Auditors Association and served on the board of directors for the Association of Indiana Counties from 2001 to í07, serving on the legislative committee, nominating committee and bylaws committee.
Wehr was appointed by the speaker of the Indiana of the House of Representatives to serve on the Indiana Advisory Council on Intergovernmental Relations in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
Wehr is currently a part of the Dubois County 911 Advisory Board and is involved with the committee that is upgrading the county radio and communications systems. She’s also on a task force committee to recreate and update the county policy and procedures manual for county employees.
Wehr has served as controller for the Dubois County Solid Waste Management District since 2003 and is employed at the Jasper law firm Bingham Greenbaum Doll LLP.
Wehr says serving as a council member and as auditor of Dubois County has given her the necessary experience and understanding of the budget process, tax rates and tax levies to meet budget requirements and set priorities for the allocation of county funds. She says she believes there is a need for cooperation and teamwork among all elected officials and says she looks forward to serving all taxpayers of Dubois County in a fair manner.
The Jasper High School graduate is a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper and the Jasper Outdoor Recreation Club and has volunteered at the former Holy Family School as well as with Freedom Reins and as a leader in both 4-H and Boy Scouts.
