Alma Evangeline Doolittle, age 76, of Huntingburg, passed away at 4:15 p.m., on Monday, April 11, 2016, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper.

Alma Doolittle Obituary Photo625            She was born April 2, 1940, in Huntingburg, Indiana to Walter and Doris (Painter) Fischer.  She married Robert J. Doolittle on May 24, 1959, in Fort Worth, Texas.  Alma was a veteran of the United States Air Force; and worked as a licensed practical nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital and The Waters of Huntingburg nursing center.  She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg; Huntingburg V.F.W. Auxiliary; Holland American Legion Auxiliary; St. Mary’s Ladies Sodality; The Singing Seniors; Augerona Rebekah Lodge; Fraternal Order of Eagles; Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary; and Daughters of Isabella.  Alma was preceded in death by:  her parents; her husband, Robert J. Doolittle, who died in 1990; and one brother, Walter Fischer, Jr..

She is survived by:

Her daughter and son-in-law,

Emmy (Carl) Sutera of Wilmington, Massachusetts;

and two grandchildren,

Robert Sutera and Carlee Sutera both of Massachusetts.

Funeral services for Alma Doolittle will be held at 10:00 a.m., E.D.T., onSaturday, April 16, 2016, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Huntingburg.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00-8:00 p.m., E.D.T., on Friday.  A parish rosary and Ladies Sodality prayer service will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Friday, followed by a Daughters of Isabella memorial service.  A Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Friday; and a combined Huntingburg V.F.W. Auxiliary and Holland American Legion Auxiliary memorial service will be held at 6:15 p.m., Friday.
