Elfrieda  E. “Frieda” Lueken, age 84, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away peacefully at 7:55 p.m. on Sunday (April 10, 2016) at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper, Indiana.

Elfrieda LuekenFrieda was born in St. Anthony, Indiana on October 29, 1931 to Henry and Helen (Brames) Buechler.   She married Alois F. “Ollie” Lueken on October 17, 1953 in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.  He preceded her in death on April 4, 1999.

She was a homemaker, but had worked at the Hasenour Motor Company in her early years, as well as Hook Drugs.

Frieda was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and their Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality and quilting ministries.  She spent time volunteering at the Community Food Bank and Holy Family Church and School.

She enjoyed walking and gardening, was a great friend to those around her and loved her family.

Preceding her in death besides her husband was one sister, Irma Jean, who died in infancy; and one brother, John Buechler.

Funeral services for  Elfrieda E. Lueken will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday (April 16, 2016), at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, IN, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.

Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday (April 15, 2016), at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, and one hour before services at the church on Saturday.  The Holy Family Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality will pray the rosary at 2:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church, St. Meinrad Archabbey, or to a favorite charity.
