A Pair of Texas men lodged at the Jasper Inn were placed under arrest for disorderly conduct after police were call to the southside Jasper hotel after receiving word of a fight between the two Wednesday afternoon.

Just before 2 pm yesterday Jasper Police went to the inn located along the 900 block of Wernsing Road to look into the reported altercation.

When officers made the scene they made contact with Steven Walton and Christopher Ellingburg who police say both had Texas ID’s.

They say the two had been drinking.

Both Walton and Ellinburg were taken into custody on misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct and booked into the Dubois County Security Center Wednesday afternoon.

Police said Walton and Ellingburg are among a group of salesmen who came into the area within the last month selling cleaning products.

Authorities say they are familiar with the individuals’ aggressive door to door selling behavior and have dealt with them on multiple occasions.

Authorities say they are continuing “to encourage the public to use caution if these subjects come to your residence to sell cleaning supplies.”
