John H. Patton, age 88, of Huntingburg, passed away at 10:45 p.m., on Friday, May 20, 2016, at The Waters of Huntingburg.

John Patton Obituary Photo656_edited-1He was born September 25, 1927, in Crawford County, Indiana to Ollie and Edna Ruth (Young) Patton. John married Lois Kendall on July 19, 1952, in Huntingburg. Mr. Patton worked for the railroad for ten years and then spent the rest of his career in the woodworking industry, retiring from Dolly Madison Industries. He was a current member of Central Christian Church in Huntingburg; and former member of First Christian Church where he served as a Deacon. John enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, gardening and yard work, listening to gospel and bluegrass music, and carving wooden canes from tree limbs. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ollie Patton Jr. and Jesse Patton; two sisters, Bernice Mills and Irene Petry; one son-in-law, Dan schilling; and one granddaughter, Allyson Patton.

Mr. Patton is survived by: his wife, Lois Patton of Huntingburg; eight children, Judy (Bill) Schilling-Keller of Edmond, Oklahoma, Ron Patton of Huntingburg, Debra (Leonard) Voegerl of Jasper, Jerry (Annette) Patton of Huntingburg, Randall (Marie) Patton of Jasper, Rob Patton of Huntingburg, Douglas Patton of Huntingburg and John (Tricia) Patton of Huntingburg; two sisters, Anna Grimes of English and Mary Faye Bath of Leavenworth; by (14) grandchildren, (15) great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for John H. Patton will be held at 11:00 a.m., E.D.T., on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at Central Christian Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Huntingburg. Pastor Paul Newland and Rev. Albert Madden will officiate at the service.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 3:00-8:00 p.m., on Monday; and also at church one hour prior to the funeral on Tuesday. Memorial contributions can be made to Central Christian Church. Condolences may be shared online at: www.nassandson.com.
