Esther F. Reckelhoff, age 86, of Jasper, Indiana passed away at 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday (May 31, 2016) at University of Louisville Medical Center in Louisville, Kentucky.

Esther ReckelhoffEsther was born in Ferdinand, Indiana, on October 2, 1929, to Leo and Theresia (Stetter) Gehlhausen.  She married Frank Reckelhoff on July 1, 1950, in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Ferdinand, Indiana.

Esther worked at K-Mart in Jasper for 23 years.  She was also a homemaker.

She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Ladies Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary at Holy Family Catholic Church.

She enjoyed playing cards, dancing, walking, gardening, watching T.V., cooking, especially making pies, quilting, canning, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Preceding her in death are one daughter-in-law, Kathleen Reckelhoff, one step-grandson, Martin Lampe Jr., and two brothers, Irvin, and Leo F. “Junie” Gehlhausen.

Funeral services for Esther F. Reckelhoff will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday (June 4, 2016) in Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper with entombment to follow in the Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper.

Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, (June 3, 2016), at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, and one hour before services at the church on Saturday from 9:00-10:00 a.m.

The Ladies Sodality will pray a rosary at 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church or to a favorite charity.
