A Jasper woman was placed under arrest and faces a number of charges after she wrecked her vehicle and was found slumped over the steering wheel at a Ferdinand convenience store early Friday morning.
Shorty before 4 am today Ferdinand Police were called to the Sunoco station located along the 1500 Block of Main Street after receiving a report of a vehicle that looked as though it had been wrecked and the driver was found slumped over the wheel.
When they arrived, police made contact with 19-year old Shandra Wilson of Jasper. Officers detected a strong odor of alcohol on Wilson’s breath. A breathalyzer test showed her blood alcohol content at .14 percent.
Police took Wilson to the Dubois County Security Center in Jasper on a charge of OWI and Minor Consuming.
Now sometime after 7:30 Friday morning, Ferdinand officers were called to the corner of West 13th and Virginia Streets where a home owner discovered that his truck had been struck overnight.
Police say this was only 4 blocks from where Wilson was found at the time of her arrest earlier. After an investigation, police took parts of her vehicle left at the scene of the accident and matched them to her vehicle that was towed to Uebelhor and Sons in Jasper.
Police also discovered a fake driver’s license with an altered date of birth.
Wilson was then additionally charged with leaving the scene of an accident and was cited for the altered license.
Ferdinand Police were assisted by the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.
