Mentors for Youth of Dubois County awarded Antoinette Birge, Jack Mendel, and Kiersten Weyer each with a $250 scholarship from the Gib Verkamp Mentors for Youth Endowment Fund.

This endowment, held by the Dubois County Community Foundation, was originally established to
provide scholarship to Dubois County high school graduates who have been active in the Mentors for
Youth program.

 

Antoinette Birge
Antoinette Birge

Birge, is a 2016 graduate of Jasper High School. She was active in band, SADD, and The Scratch.

She has volunteered as a mentor in the Mentors for Youth program since 2015.

Birge plans to pursue a degree in speech-language pathology at Ball State University.

 

Jack Mendel
Jack Mendel

 

Mendel, a 2016 graduate of Jasper High School graduated in the top 10% of his class. He was active in Young Life, SADD, Boy Scouts, and played soccer.

He has volunteered as a mentor in the Mentors for Youth program since 2015.

Mendel plans to pursue a degree in exercise science at Indiana University as preparation for an advanced degree in the medical field.

 

Kiersten Weyer
Kiersten Weyer

 

Weyer also a 2016 graduate of Jasper High School was active in band, SADD, and Peer Mentors.

She has volunteered as a mentor in the Mentors for Youth program since 2015.

She plans to pursue a degree in music therapy at the University of Evansville.
