Sergeant Robert Gardner of the Jasper post of the Indiana State Police has been promoted to the rank of First Sergeant and will serve as the District Investigative Commander. Gardner is a native of Monroe County and a 1991 graduate of Edgewood High School.  In 1993 he earned an Associate’s Degree in Law Enforcement from Vincennes University and served his country for two years in the United States Army.

Gardner graduated from the Indiana State Police Recruit Academy back in 1997.  He was assigned to the Jasper District, patrolling Daviess County until 1999, where he was transferred to Spencer County. Gardner was promoted to Detective in 2006, serving Spencer County.  In August of 2014, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and worked as the Investigative Squad Leader for the Jasper Post. Sergeant Gardner and his family reside in Spencer County.
