Coming up this weekend is the Rosenvolk German Medieval Festival which is set to take place at Ferdinand’s beautiful 18th Street Park. The fest will take place place tomorrow through this Sunday October 16th.

The festival which till transform the park into the Middle Ages is in its second year and touted as an official Midwest Travel Treasure by AAA. It will feature dozens of re-enactors who will bring Medieval Germany to life through full-contact jousting, music, fire breathing, craft beer and mead, delicious food and a masquerade.

The festival committee is seeking area volunteers to help with entrance gates, games, beer/mead tent and food booths. People interested in volunteering can contact Debbie Ramirez at gardenerdebbie@outlook.com or call 812-639-0232.

Visitors to the festival can expect to learn about German heritage through a variety of musical acts and amusements, as well as a range of period entertainers and living history demonstrations, including hatchet and knife throwing and slingshot shooting. There will also be food and craft vendors at the festival selling traditional German Medieval items.
