Jerome A. Streicher, age 89 of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 8:59 p.m. on Sunday (December 4, 2016) at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper, IN.

Jerome was born in Jasper, Indiana on December 28, 1926 to Anthony and Clara (Hochgesang) Streicher. He married Clara Scherle on September 4, 1954 in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper. She preceded him in death on May 28, 2015.

Jerome was a U.S. Army veteran who served in WWII with the Occupied Japan Reconnaissance Tour. He was a member of the VFW Post #673 and their Military Funeral detail, and the American Legion Post #147.

He retired as a supervisor from Jasper Rubber Products after 42 years of service, and was a founding member of Jasper Southgate Industries.

Jerome was a charter member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper and their Holy Name Society, where he served as a original member of choir and served on their finance ministry and participated in their softball league. He was a recipient of the Simon Brute Award in 2010.

He was a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society, the Jasper Knights of Columbus, and the Jasper German Club. He volunteered at Memorial Hospital and local blood drives, and was a RSVP Volunteer with Tri-Cap.

He enjoyed watching and listening to sports and was a IU Basketball and Cincinnati Reds fan. He also enjoyed gardening, traveling, trips to the casino. He was a member of the Happy Go Lucky and Camping Hoosiers camping clubs.

Preceding him in death besides his wife was one grandson: Matthew K. Woolsey, five sisters: Marcella Klein, Bert Borho, Lucille Merkle, Mildred Horney, and Lila Templeton, and two brothers: Rufus Streicher and Linus Streicher.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Jerome A. Streicher will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday (December 10, 2016) at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper. The VFW Post #673 will conduct military gravesite rites.

Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday (December 9, 2016) at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, IN, and from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time at the church on Saturday.
