Two people were place under arrest on numerous charges after authorities received word of a theft that had taken place a residence near downtown Jasper early this morning.

Just before 12:30 a.m. officers with the Jasper police department learned of a theft that occurred at a private residence located along the 100 Block of East Eighth Street.

While Investigating the theft officers immediately located a female subject identified as 25-year old Jessica Messmer who lived at the 8th St. location in need of medical attention.

Police believed that to be the result of being under the influence of a narcotic drug. While attempting to assist Messmer, police say she became extremely combative with officers.

Officers also located a male subject identified as 38-year old Shane Fellers who also lived at the same address in possession of hypodermic needles.

Police then located medication, a checkbook and keys to a  vehicle they say had been reported stolen. Messmer was taken to Memorial Hospital for medical clearance. After which both she and Fellers were taken to and booked into the Dubois County Security Center.

Messmer is facing Class A Misdemeanor counts of possession of stolen property, theft, check deception and resisting law enforcement as well as a level 6 felony count of forgery.

Fellers meanwhile is charged with possession of a stolen property a Class A Misdemeanor and a Level 6 Felony count of possession of a hypodermic needle.

Jasper Police were assisted by the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.
