One person was injured and a Jasper woman was cited after a two vehicle accident Thursday morning at the intersection of Wernsing Road and Clay Streets on Jasper southside.

Jasper Police say just before 10 am yesterday a Jeep driven by 61-year old Greg Beck of Jasper was southbound on Wernsing Road while 20-year old Jessica Capehart also of Jasper was in the westbound lane of Clay Street and had stopped at the stop sign at the intersection with Wernsing Road.

Capehart told police she intended to continuing westbound onto Division Road but failed to see Beck’s SUV approaching the intersection from the north. Police say Capehart began to proceed through the intersection and drove her van into the path of the Beck vehicle. Beck told police he was unable to react in time and the front bumper of his SUV struck the passenger side center of Capehart’s van.

Beck complained chest pain and an abrasion to the head. He was taken by ambulance to Memorial Hospital for treatment. Capehart was not injured but was ticketed by police for Failure to Yield the Right of Way. Both vehicles sustained 6-thousand dollars damage.

Jasper Police were assisted at the scene by Memorial Hospital EMS.
