No one was injured but a Jasper man was cited in a three vehicle chain reaction accident that took place Wednesday afternoon on Jasper’s northside.

Jasper police say just before 4:30 pm vehicles driven by 19-year old Patrick Jarvis of Jasper, 31-year old Marilyn Steven of French Lick and 48-year old Brian Mehringer of Jasper were all traveling in the northbound lane of Newton near the intersection with 26th.

Jarvis told police that his attention was diverted away from the roadway and when he looked up again traffic ahead had come to a stop.

Police say Jarvis attempted to stop but was unable to do so in time and the front bumper of his vehicle struck the rear bumper of Steven’s passenger car which was then pushed into the rear of Mehringer’s SUV.

Jarvis’ vehicle sustained 3-thousand dollars damage. There was a thousand dollars damage inflicted upon Stevens’ car whicle the Mehringer SUV recieved 250-dollars damage.

Again, no injuries were reported and Jarvis was ticketed by police for following too closely.
