Joan C. Oeding, age 76 passed away at 8:15 a.m. Thursday, January 12, 2017, at her home.
She was born in Jasper on November 26, 1940 to Anton F. and Theresa (Knust) Bockelman. She married Jerome Oeding on November 23, 1961 in St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Joan was a graduate of Jasper High School Class of 1958. She was a homemaker and did alterations for Sieberts Clothing in Jasper.

She enjoyed IU Basketball, shopping, antiquing, cooking and more recently traveling.

She is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Sons, Luke Oeding and wife (Ann),
Tim Oeding and wife (Jill),
Four grandchildren, Lacey, Jake, Grace and Hope.
Sister, Ardella Lubbehusen and husband (Cletus),
Preceding her in death are sisters, Dorothy Horney and Eleanor Sermersheim. Five brothers, Anton Harold, Fredrick, Sylvester and Claudie Bockelman.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2017, in St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.

Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. Monday, January 16 2017 at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lange Fuhs Cancer Center or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
