The report of an alleged theft at a south side Ferdinand hotel Thursday night lead to the arrest of a Spencer County man on a pair of charges.

Around a quarter till 11 last night Ferdinand police were called to the Red Roof Inn in reference to the theft of cash at the hotel. Police say they eventually located the man suspected of the theft, Hunter Nowontny of St. Meinrad. Police took Nowontny into custody and charged him with once count of theft as well as possession of marijuana.

He was taken to and booked into the Dubois County Security Center in Jasper. Ferdinand Police were assisted by a deputy with the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.
