James “JD” Durlauf, 58, of Ferdinand, passed away, Friday, May 12th at home. James was born June 10, 1958 in in Huntingburg to Jerry and Ruth (Becher) Durlauf.

James was an upholsterer at Best Home Furnishings in Ferdinand. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, Jasper Gun Club and was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed playing softball, traveling, riding his Harley and being with family and friends. James was a fan of the Cincinnati Reds and IU Basketball.

James is survived by his Life Partner, Connie Eckert of Ferdinand, one son, Jeff (Megan) Durlauf of Ferdinand, three daughters, Erica (Alex) Hohl of St. Henry, Crystal (Mitch) Bratton of Bloomington and Kyla Eckert of Ferdinand; three sisters, Jane (Gary) Oeding of Ferdinand, Susie (Lee Ray) Schmitt of Washington, IN, Diane (Gary) Lange of Huntingburg; two brothers, Bobby Durlauf of Ferdinand and Mike (Sam) Durlauf Fort Walton Beach, FL; six grandchildren. James was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Durlauf.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-8:00 PM at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand and 7-9:30 AM on Thursday at the Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:00 AM in St. Ferdinand Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
