The Indiana Department of Transportation announces lane restrictions on U.S. 231 near Jasper for a bridge deck overlay project.

Beginning on or around Monday, June 12, contractors will begin restrict the southbound lane of U.S. 231 at the bridge about two miles south of the State Road 56 intersection spanning East Fork Mill Creek. During the restriction, crews will begin a project to repair, mill and overlay the surface of the bridge.

Lanes will be restricted to 13 feet, including the shoulders. Any loads wider than 13 feet should find an alternate route. The restrictions will be in place around the clock with traffic controlled by temporary signals. Lanes restrictions will switch to the northbound lane when crews are finished in the southbound lane.

Work is expected to last until late October, depending upon weather conditions. INDOT urges motorists to slow down and be alert in the work zone.
