The Dubois County 4-H Fair Queen Contest was held this past weekend at the Jasper High School and celebrated its 50th year. In attendance were special guest this year to mark the 50th year celebration of the Queen Contest as past winners of the pageant were brought on stage to commemorate the fifth decade of the contest. Janet Prusz, the first ever crowned Dubois County Fair Queen in 1968 was also in the crowd cheering on contestants during the evenings activities. The Queen Contest is one of the first events that the 4-H fair will see before the fair opens to the public next Monday on the 17th.

Those taking home titles this year were Riley Prechtel as Teen Miss 1st Runner Up, Presley Neukam who was awarded Teen Miss. Miss Congeniality went to Taylor Hopf the daughter of Keith and Susan Hopf of Kyana. Luaren Luebbehusen was named Miss Photogenic, she is the daughter of Ron & Dana Luebbehusen of Huntingburg.

Miss 3rd Runner up went to Sarah Pund the daughter of Kenny and Chris Pund of Ferdinand, with Miss 2nd Runner Up as Taylor Hopf the daughter of Keith and Susan Hoph of Kyana. Kennedy Neukam the Daughter of Keynin and Julie Neukam of Dubois was named Miss 1st Runner up.

And Finally taking home the title of Dubois County 4-H Fair Queen was Sara Carpenter a 2017 graduate of Jasper High School, she is the daughter of Kurt and Cindy Carpenter of Jasper.

Judging will begin this week for those participating in 4-H events with check in for 4-H and open class exhibits beginning this Friday at 3 pm. This coming Saturday July 15th will feature the Rabbit Show with Showmanship to follow at 10 am, Sunday will see the animal livestock check ins with Monday, July 17th as the official start of the fair with a grand opening ceremony at 5 pm .
